Publix has good subs. Boar’s Head spicy Italian.
Oil and vinegar w/ provolone are the only acceptable answers for an Italian sub.
Mayo and American cheese is for cretins...

Mayo works for lesser meats. American Cheese is, well, misnamed at best. Melting cheese product maybe. But to call that glop American is downright... un-American.

Ah, but you have not eaten a Muffalleta from Central Grocery Company in the French Quarter of New Orleans! ;-)

True about Publix subs. Though the Italian with Publix brand meats is also good. I get Swiss rather than provolone. Get some of those yellow and green spicy pickled peppers in there. Spinach (haha) too. I usually eat it at home and add some more stuff. Like prosciutto.

On one of my trips to Europe I tried to find American cheese in the markets. Nobody knew what I was talking about and looked at me like I was strange. I did eat a lot of provolone while there!

I wish we had Publix north of the Mason-Dixon line. Whenever I’m in the South, it’s a must go to place for me. If someone wants groceries while I’m visiting, I offer to do the shopping just so I can go there. Sort of pathetic, I know.
