Start Now to unthrone the Turtle in 2026. He needs to retire and Conservatives should help him out-How about Tim McGraw doesn’t he and Faith Hill live in Kentucky?

What I take from this is that Bolduc is now likely to win, with or without Mitch’s help. By jumping in last minute when his support is no longer necessary, Mitch hopes to convince Bolduc that his victory was due to the help Mitch gave him. Hopefully Bolduc is too smart to fall for that.

It would be nice if these candidates could be fully funded

Campaign finance laws are designed to benefit the parties and the PACs to keep the politicians in line with the bosses.

Yes, he was referring to Rick Scott.

“I can easily see Tim Scott doing a Michael Steele in 10 years.”

No need to wait. He’s already doing it. I envision Herschel Walker being a Tim Scott clone, once he gets into the Senate. Yeah I know, we still need to vote for him because he’s better than the alternative, but just barely.

If Bolduc wins this, there may be enough votes in the new R Senate majority to vote out Mitch as leader.

This is why they hold the leadership vote just days after the November election, before the new members are sworn in.

They tell the winners that they can vote in the leadership vote, but they pressure them as rookies to fall in line and just vote for whom they tell them to.

In 2020, Democrats held their party leadership vote on November 18 and 19. I can't find any articles that include the dates for the Republican leaderships votes, but they are in November, too.

Well, let's hope this crop of winners will not be bullied. They owe Mitch nothing.

.....which puts him at odds with Mitch. If victorious with 56-57 senators Scott will have a bunch of IOUs. Could be trouble for Mitch.

If anyone makes fun of me for being against change, I can bring up Arizona was once the GOP stronghold home of Senator Barry Goldwater and now is apparently an iffy outpost of Mexico.

They can say “Yeah and the Eve of Destruction by Barry McGuire was number one, too.”

“McConnell caught some flak. Good!”

Exactly. Looks like Bolduc was gaining without Mitch’s money. So now Mitch wants to get back into the action.

He’s not up for reelection this year, but there is no reason to tolerate him as Majority Leader in 2023, except that he’ll probably win, just because he has seniority and knows how to twist arms.

What’s needed are some young Turks in the Senate and House who will reluctantly vote for the same old, same old, but on condition that they have clout despite their juniority because they’re the future, just like the Squad in the present Congress, except without stupid people, nut cases and brother marriers (especially if the young Turk in question is male). But if the same-olds can be deposed, by all means, have at it. On the other hand, if you want to “kill” the king, you better make sure that you do.

Thomas Massie has earned the spot as McConnell’s replacement as Senator from KY. He will make an excellent senator.
