Republican Rep. Liz Cheney, co-chair of the House Select Committee investigating the January 6, 2021, insurrection, said the committee expects former President Donald Trump would testify behind closed doors if he complies with the committee’s subpoena, and said the committee wants to avoid turning Trump’s testimony into political theater.
Cheney said in an interview with NBC News on Sunday she expects Trump will comply with a subpoena from the committee that called on the former President to testify and share select documents with investigators. Cheney said the committee plans to treat Trump’s testimony “with great seriousness.”
“We are going to proceed in terms of questioning of the former President under oath,” Cheney said. “It may take multiple days, and it will be done with a level of rigor and discipline and seriousness that it deserves.”
Cheney dismissed the possibility of Trump testifying in front of the committee publicly.
“(Trump)’s not going to turn this into a circus,” Cheney said. “This isn’t going to be, you know, his first debate against Joe Biden and the circus and the food fight that that became. This is a far too serious set of issues.”

Nothing says transparency of process like closed testimony or FISA secret courts where the prosecuted is not represented, or even aware of the charges being levied against them.
All Trump has to do is postpone any appearance for two months and lil Liz will be in the archives. Doesn’t matter much what she thinks or believes. With the new congress and committee assignments, we’re likely to see some rebuttal testimony instead of the crap that we’ve seen thus far. Might make for some interesting television viewing . . .
And if a court forces you to, simply go there and take the 5th on everything. Because if you say ANYTHING including your name or that the sun rises in the east they will prosecute you for lying under oath.

let’s face it, they’ve already deemed Trump guilty and will charge him with *something*. The testimony is all for show and pretense. The Dems entire purpose is to “poison” Trump so he is so politically damaged, he can’t run.

The Repukes should subpoena Trump if they take the house. Make it public and make it the last week in October 2024.
I expect that Trump will be able to avoid testifying in person, but there must be a part of him that would love to face down Liz Cheney.

I can see why Lizzy and her 'daddy' and the 50 lying "Intelligence' thugs (who signed a letter saying Hunter's laptop was Russian disinformation) - might be afraid of free citizens hearing two sides to an issue.
I agree, that is what is their intent, but it wont work, most people are onto them.

My first thought was that President Trump should demand public hearing in his testimony. Otherwise we will get out of context comments and distorted leaks from every Trump hater on the committee (which is all of them!).
