Twitter was ultimately the platform and tool used by the populace to overthrow the government in Egypt.
It was an object lesson as to its power if not controlled.
Subsequently, I surmise that the CIA reached out to Jack Dorsey and the board and said- You can’t allow this to happen in the US or in our allies countries. This is a weapon that we can and should only use against repressive regimes like Iran. Twitter probably said Ok to that but didn’t realize they would be subverted by the arrangement. Freedom of speech died on that platform at that time.
