Well it looks like he’s chiseled out his land bridge dimensions and now securing those under the umbrella of Russian control. He may just use the river as the boundary and let a snippet of Kherson stay as Ukraine. I know there was some questions about what established borders are to begin with. All and all so far Putin’s taking the steps he pretty much said he was going to do....and when Ukraine/Nato troops or others get in his way he just regroups and comes back into the fray to continue with those plans. Meanwhile Ukraine’s full of old Russian military machinery I tend to think was also planned. Like a grave yard for metal and iron.

They mostly die where they are advancing so it is not a lot of advance. With 15k casualties every couple weeks it won’t last forever.

OK, Anthony, let’s assume for the moment that you’re correct and Putin is desperate. Why is this a good thing when he has control over 6,500 (or mire, the Russians are well known to cheat on arms control agreements) nuclear weapons? That’s what you and all of the other asswipes in this administration are missing - you don’t screw with nuclear superpowers. Desperation produces desperate actions - and all of us will get to bear the consequences of your reckless push to destroy Russia. We could have left them alone - they were content to stay in their country until we started pushing NATO as far and fast eastward as possible, giving lie to our pledge 30 years ago to not move eastward by one inch. Fools!

No, it means Russia is prepared to slaughter the Ukrainian army in Kherson.

So people in the annexed regions voted to be part of Russia, but Blinken thinks those are wild claims to be ignored. He’s Ugly American in his thought processes; he doesn’t think voting means anything.

If I were Putin I would not make such a declaration unless Russia had near total control of those territories. I don’t think Russia does. “Martial law” by one power who controls one village but does not control the next village sounds like propaganda.
