That’s why they will just steal the car. The battery is big, heavy, and not a quick removal. The car will likely go to a chop shop, and parted out.
I would like to see an anti theft system that sprays the thief with a replicated skunk spray as soon as any of the car doors are opened. A spray that would wear off or disappear after a couple of days.
I have thought about rerouting the hot wire to the fuel pump to a hidden spot under the driver’s seat, with a switch that’s easy to flip. I might find my car where I left it, and the battery run dead, but still have the car.
An inline switch on the hot cable to the starter needs to be hard to see, which could make it hard to reach without getting burned and/or grimy in the process.
