The Snake island report on the first day of the invasion about the 13 defenders who were thought to have been killed by the Russian invaders when communication with them was lost, was modified 2 days later when the Ukrainian Border Guard reported that they may have been captured alive, and then on the 4th day the Ukrainian Navy reported that they had been captured alive.
The audio tape was real.
The entire incident was a lie, propaganda meant to build support for Ukraine
No, the Russians attacked the island and took it from the 13 defenders, and then eventually were forced to retreat and pull their forces from it.
That may very well be true, but the initial story was these brace Ukranian fighters when asked to surrender to the Russians responded by giving them the finger and said “FU”, then fought to the last man, all of which was propaganda.
That’s my point, both sides are putting industrial strength propaganda, anyone choosing to believe any of it, is either foolish or ignorant.

On the very first day Ukraine was attacked and Russia launched its war, the Russians shelled and attacked Snake island, and communication was lost, the 13 border guards were presumed dead.
Two days later the Ukrainian Border Guard reported that they may have been captured alive, and then on the 4th day the Ukrainian Navy reported that they had been captured alive.
In the first 2 days of a war that is pretty good intelligence, and government reporting for an overrun island manned by 13 men.
I’m accepting all that but what completely miss is how the incident was initially reported as brave Ukrainian soldiers giving the middle finger to the Russians along with a “FU”, only later did the story you mentioned come out, the point is initially the story was pure propaganda hopefully it’s simple enough for anyone to understand
The 13 men were brave and they did the FU, I don’t know why that bothers you to this degree.
This was the first day of the invasion and a very dramatic event to a peaceful nation the fact the men survived is good.

The reason is bothers me is obvious, maybe you can’t see it, but both sides are putting out industrial strength propaganda and the USA is escalating the situation on a daily basis, the idea that we could get pulled into a war with Russia over Ukraine is insane, I feel bad for Ukraine but I really don’t give a crap about what happens to them, I am tired of needless wars and this will be a totally needless war if we get drawn into it.
With all the problems we have in our country the last thing we need is a demented President getting us into another pointless war, this time with a nuclear armed nation.
Obviously, the propaganda is working on a lot of people who are distracted by the shiny object in Ukraine and missing all the other issues that directly affect our country.

Good Lord, I didn’t say communication had never existed, you don’t understand a last communication made to the Russian demand to surrender and then losing communications as the Russian navy attacked and destroyed the infrastructure?
You don’t understand a tiny island with 13 men being cut off in the first hours of the invasion and it taking only 2 days for the Ukrainians to learn the men had been captured alive?
You are really obsessed with the first few hours of this invasion from 8 months ago and getting pretty weird about it when you wrote that first sentence, it was silly.
For one reason or the other you completely miss the point, I could care less about what happened on the island, the point is, the reporting on the story at the beginning was false and was propaganda, meant to illicit sympathy and support for Ukraine.
It’s the propaganda I’m against, not what actually happened, but how it was reported, I can’t make it any simpler.
Receiving the last transmission from an outpost as it is being overrun and thinking the 13 men died in the shelling and attack and then reporting 2 days later that you think the men may have been captured alive, and then 2 days after that confirming that the men are still alive, is not exactly what military people would call propaganda but more of a very tiny and meaningless example of the fog of war.

A lot of what’s in the article turned out to be false, it was propaganda meant to shape public opinion and has obviously worked, you are a prime example.
No, that was simple reporting, everyone thought they had been killed and 4 days later the Ukraine navy reported that they had been captured alive.

What would you have thought if the last message from a remote outpost of 13 men was a defiant FU to the enemy as they attacked, and then nothingness?
Russia is not a powerful nation and not G7 worthy. Russia is certainly not worthy of a Security council veto.
The population is less than the Indonesian island of Java
The GDP of Russia is less than that of South Korea.
A good comparison is with Mexico or maybe Australia
You would think after multiple wars the USA has been dragged into, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc....all were pointless and in each one the American Public was fed lies and propaganda that people would eventually catch on that the same thing is happening with Ukraine.
Anyone who opposes being dragged into another war is labeled a Russia Troll or Putin Lover is one indication of the lies and propaganda being spread.
After all the lies we were told about Russia Gate and Covid, now we are supposed to believe the same media is reporting truth and facts about Ukraine, if you do fine, but I choose not to.
I’ve repeatedly said, I don’t believe either side in this conflict, eventually it will get resolved and the truth will be revealed, what I do care about is being dragged into another war by lies and propaganda.
