That woman you are apparently having issues with 1) could drop you like a deer with her bow, and 2) provides the German article source describing what is occurring with butter and meat, unlike you..........
Ironic, huh?
"Get out of...Putin declares ‘martial law’ in annexed areas as he tells 60,000 to flee occupied Kherson
Again, not rehashing.
Of course they’ve locked down on stuff.
1. They started out doing it to satisfy one of Russia’s demands! Russia has disenfranchised the Nazis politically to the point where there’s only one legacy in the RADA still affiliated to Nazi groups. You can’t argue on one hand that Ukraine must continue to allow Nazis into government and promote Nazis in the press, then on the other hand complain when they institute lockdowns.
2. Those same processes have been followed to suppress THE ENEMY footholds in their press and political institutions. Guess what... That happens in war. Even America has had periods (e.g. during the second world war) where it’s suppressed free speech, rounded up Asians, and carried out witch-hunts. And it’s not as if Russia hasn’t done far worse - NOTHING gets published on the national media in Russia now unless it’s been run by the Kremlin.
Every time someone strays off script on Rossyia 1 even without attacking their own government/military the apparatchiks go absolutely nuts... There is a brilliant example this week when blurred out footage of an alleged Uke war crime was aired and one guest stupidly thought to mention, pro-Ukrainian channels are airing the same clip unblurred and claiming the guys committing the war crime on camera are Russian.
The other panellists had a proper Pavlovian reaction.
“Every video I’ve seen where residents of the new Russian provinces are interviewed, they state flatly that the economy and perceived increased opportunities in Russia informed their decisions.”
Doesn’t prove anything. If they’re in occupied areas, and being interviewed on camera with gunmen out of shot, maybe they’ll moderate their words. In Kherson, Russia was given a fairly polite welcome - we don’t know how many of them just did it through gritted teeth. Like you said, hardheaded pragmatism.
We don’t even know, out of Kherson, how many civilians actually do want to live in Russia. Polls prior to the invasion appear to suggest there was less than 10% in favor. Stremousov never got more than 6% of the vote and that was in ridiculously low turnouts. Basically, Stremousov and his mum might’ve voted for him, but very few others ever did.
The poor bastards are overrun with Russians because their own defences were sabotaged early on in the conflict, and because the city administrators thought that if they surrendered peacefully then things would work out. Almost immediately the invaders started bussing people in from Russia to take over “abandoned” property (i.e. the houses of families who’d fled), then they started arresting and torturing suspected pro-Ukrainian leaders, then they sacked all the people who’d let them in and handed the city keys over to Stremousov - who wasn’t even popular with the pro-Russians BEFORE the invasion.
I would put a thousand dollars down today in a wager if you could get all the pro-Russians in Kherson in January together in a room today and see what they think after eight months of hands-on experience of the irredeemably corrupt, brutal pro-Russian leadership, far more than half would have buyer’s remorse.
“Cause Russians give a shat about civilians whereas Ukraine does not given Ukraine still shelling civilian areas in the Donbass region?”
Are you being sarcastic?
Kherson City alone had 280,000 people in it in January. The population of Kherson Raion was 456,000.
So if you assume for the sake of argument that 3/4 of the civilian population of the Raion has already been displaced (the figures aren’t known by anybody but I’d be surprised if it’s that high), that leaves more than 112,000.
Russia evacuates 60,000. They’re just the ones (a) with hard-on for Russia, (b) kids who can be taken without parental consent, and (c) people who’re gritting their teeth and going into Russia when they’d be perfectly happy to cross into Ukrainian held territory IF THEY WERE ALLOWED TO.
So What about the other recalcitrant 52,000? Are they putting the bunting out for the Ukrainians? Are they being used as a human shield to stop the Vatnik cowards being shot in the back as they retreat? Are they deliberately creating a pro-Ukraine populated cauldron which they can light up with a chemical, biological or even nuclear blitzkrieg?
Given Russian Telegram seems a bit lit up with speculation about a nuke already in Melitopol (for some peculiar reason they think NATO was able to smuggle a dirty bomb all the way in along Russian patrolled roads, through Russian held towns, past legions of troops... A bit like that cockamamie story about the truck that got X-rayed with a big bomb in it after crossing multiple Russian checkpoints).
It’s nowhere near as plausible as, Russia has moved one OR MORE of its nukes to Melitopol, well in range of two soon-to-be wholly Ukrainian held but technically inside the illegally annexed zone.
Erase one off the map, and say to the other, “look what you made us do.”
Russia is THAT ruthlessly pragmatic. The gymnastics you’d have to go through to invent a practical way for Ukraine to put a nuke in Melitopol and use Kherson as a false flag from deep inside Russian held territory is just beyond fantasy.
Vatniks might buy it, but it’s just not plausible at all.
Prove it otherwise.
You can’t.
Yo, MalPratice, horrendous losses of Ukrainian fresh green cannon fodder and NATO rushed to Ukraine military hardware continues. Ukrainian air-defenses amount to four cops shooting AK-47s and a Kyiv resident lazily drinking coffee and firing a hunting rifle at missiles and drones from a multi-story apartment complex. Ukraine is broke, no money. IMF has yet to grant Ukraine $20 billion dollars. The US, UK, EU, NATO are all running out of military hardware to send Ukraine, and then, cant send it fast enough to replace that which is steadily getting destroyed by the Russians. Can you please get ZelesnkyyIdiot to maybe create a commemorative stamp of that man shooting a hunting rifle from his multi-story apartment window? You know, for moral purposes and to wish Putin a Happy Birthday?
In other words, Russia is aiming to win by siege and attrition, having lost the diplomatic and moral high ground and having its conventional military capability publicly humiliated.
You talk about cannon fodder... I’m seeing Russian reports on Russian Telegram referring to tens of thousands of ill equipped conscripts in trenches being fragged in their hundreds.
Granted the news from there is changing by the minute but it looks like a scene from the First World War. With both sides describing an absolute massacre... of Russian conscripts.
Russia seems to have the numbers on thrir side. For now anyway.
Drag in and destroy.
Working as intended.
“According to the results of yesterday’s enemy offensive in the direction of Novaya Kamenka - Sukhanovo, which the enemy undertook with the forces of two battalions reinforced with tanks, a total of about 50 armored vehicles.
The enemy suffered losses and retreated to their original positions. As a result of the battle, more than 15 tanks and 10 armored combat vehicles were destroyed, enemy equipment, tanks, infantry fighting vehicles were captured, there are prisoners.
The loss of enemy personnel is tentatively estimated at 200 people (killed and wounded), now the enemy is trying to organize their evacuation from the battlefield. What is noteworthy, this time the attack was not with a swoop as before, but with a systematic deployment in battle formation.”

“▪️In the southern front, the tensest situation is in the Beryslav area. The AFU seek to break through the Russian defense in the direction of Beryslav, flanking and threatening to encircle the entire Russian grouping near Kherson.
▪️On the morning of October 15, the AFU with two battalion-tactical groups of the 60th Infantry Brigade and 17th Tank Brigade, supported by mobile groups of the 140th Special Operations Regiment, launched an attack on the Russian positions from the direction of Nova Kamyanka.
▪️In the failed offensive the enemy lost almost two dozen YPR-765 armored vehicles, BMP-2s and T-64BV tanks. The AFU 60th Infantry Brigade lost 70 people, the 140th Special Forces regiment, whose units were conducting reconnaissance combat, also suffered heavy losses.
▪️Four days later, in the early morning of October 19, the AFU launched a new attack on the Russian Armed Forces’ positions near Sukhanove and Polyanka by the 18 Mountain and 60 Infantry brigades assault groups. Later, the enemy introduced reserves — the 28th Mechanized brigade units and the 17th Brigade tank company — into the battle.
▪️Under artillery and large-caliber MLRS strikes, the enemy began to retreat. The AFU retreated to their initial positions, losing six tanks and several dozen personnel.
▪️On the entire Mykolaiv-Kryvyi Rih direction, the Russian Armed Forces are entrenched and creating several lines of defense, which makes it possible to deter attacks. But the AFU still have a large numerical superiority and is preparing for a major offensive on Kherson.
▪️Under these conditions, the authorities of Kherson region decided to organize the evacuation of residents to the left bank of Dnipro River.”

Yes, I do enjoy the views from him. He does steer clear of articulating his own view, presenting things as others see them.
I wouldn’t disagree with him on his view of Russian diplomatic disengagement, nor that the feeling is mutual.
And as for the Tories here, he’s preaching to the choir. I’m watching a TV show where they put a lettuce on a pedestal earlier in the week and are taking bets on what’ll decompose first - the Truss government or the lettuce.
Horrendous losses of Russian cannon fodder. Stop projecting what is happening to you ruskies
Na, I’m not a putinist. Those followers of Putin are the big liars

I can't figure out if you are using bad grammar or asking a meaningless question. There is no "should" to it. There is just a result there is no basis to significantly distrust.
That Soviet census showed a strong ethnic Ukrainian majority in the region. Find & check it yourself, don't depend on biased me!
And what difference does it make? Ethnic Ukrainians are bigger supporters of the Russian sovereignty other Crimea compared to some other groups.
I honestly “guesstimate” high losses on both sides, and the Iranian drones’ knocking out power is having an effect on behind-the-lines support and logistics, which the Ukies can at least partially adjust to, but as civilians flee, the adjustments get tougher. Ukraine may well lose some ground in Donbas this winter, esp. if HIMARS delivery does not increase to a reasonable level immediately.
Eventually the drones will be countered, and the Russians will be up against a better armed Ukraine.
Look Russki, clean up your damn English. What the heck does “other Crimea” mean?
The phone does the corrections obviously. It is “over” and you know it.
Better armed with what? Do you believe thst 4 NASAMS and 1 IRIS-T are going to make difference?
