Amazing disconnect huh? The US failed miserably after 2 decades in Afghanistan, yet somehow to some on FR, a mere 8 months proves failure.

There’s a few major problems with that silly attempt at a parallel.

1) The US never wanted to invade and take over the countries of goat herders.
2) The US destroyed all military opposition the goat herders had in short order in the initial operations.
3) It wasn’t a war that kept us there 20 years, it was the misguided goal of “nation building” in places that didn’t want it.
4) Ukraine is next to Russia and it used to be part of it, on and off, through the years.
