Not exactly. Yes rockets are a big deal. In fact they have a rocket service (like the marines or space force).
But they also want air supremacy. They just chose not to acquire it. Either because they can’t... their air force isn’t capable. Or because they thought they didn’t need it. I think it’s more the later. Either way they screwed up.
And their rocket forces aren’t that great either...their targeting appears to be suspect. But then again they thought Chernobyl was safe to occupy.

Quite frankly, I think GDP is a poor standard of determining a country’s economic strength and health.
Quite frankly...
When the world standard for transactions is either the dollar or Euro, then, the purchasing power for everything that's not produced internally in a country, ends up being less.
GDP is a standard by which country's are judged economically. The GDP of Russia may be large when companred to that of many other countries, but, the wealth and purchasing power of the people is still substandard when compared to people of other countries with lower GDP.
No matter how one looks at it, Russia is still a poor country, whether measuring GDP or the individual wealth among the population.
Russia will never have the kind of purchasing power that makes it a superpower. It doesn't have the kind of economy that can make Russia a rich or well-off country.

Our Bright Boys at the State Department have decided that no matter what happens on the ground we can win the PR war and isolate Russia.
We shall see. They have accomplished much be putting on an excrement show, announcing the results as fact and just moving on.
Witness our own elections.

As one who reads economic history from time to time, I remember problems that Russia had with storage and transportation of grain. In the 1970’s and 1980’s about 1/3 of Russia grain was lost due to poor storage and transport. That is a lot of grain."
Yes. And I remember this.
1973 United States–Soviet Union wheat dealWikipediahttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1973_United_States%E2%80%93Soviet_Union_wheat_deal "In July 1973, the Soviet Union purchased 10 million short tons (9.1×106 t) of grain (mainly wheat and corn) from the United States at subsidized prices, which caused global grain prices to soar. Crop shortfalls in 1971 and 1972 forced the Soviet Union to look abroad for grain. Hoping to prevent famine or other crisis, Soviet negotiators worked out a deal to buy grain on credit, but quickly exceeded their credit limit...
Background
Due to the Soviet agricultural system, the cold climate, and frequent irregular droughts, crop failure was common in the Soviet Union.[1][2] The problem was heightened by the fact that much of the arable land in the USSR couldn't be farmed due to climate problems,[3] so only some of the land in the black earth belt was suitable for agriculture.[4][5]"

I disagree with that "hopefully" part. No nutty dictatorship should have nukes. And I've seen the feeble minded canard about China taking over Russia. Any nation that invades and occupies another country for strategic military positions, ocean routes, arable land, natural resources and slaves will get itself a black eye and a whipping from nations that have free minds with ingenuity.

Air supremacy over Iraq and Afghanistan. But the U.S still failed in it’s overall objectives and wasted a lot of personnel and treasure doing so. Some wars you can win from the air, as mentioned, but some you still have to see the whites of their eyes and be prepared to take casualties.

Russia had trouble with Chechnya and Ukraine is over 30 times larger than Chechnya. That fact never sank in to Russian military planers. Ukraine is larger than the combined area of Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, and Mississippi.

The more we help, the longer this will turn into a stalemate situation. I can only see this being in the best interests of a few powerful people on both sides, and most of them will never be held responsible. Meanwhile, millions of ordinary people in Ukraine are suffering enormous losses. This conflict is a form of insanity but then our “shining city on a hill” is now nothing different from insanity. I would be happy to see the conflict end, but then we are left with the ongoing challenge of overcoming the madness all around us, unrelated to Ukraine.
You have to wonder how many more days or weeks this free will experiment can blunder its way forward before being terminated and put out of its misery. The vast majority of human beings are just not spiritually or morally developed to be able to handle such a gift. And the situation will get worse as religious faiths are pushed out of our society. The Biden regime is a perfect example of what happens when power falls upon those with no moral compass, and no way of understanding that they lack a moral compass.

Nations are not super powers because they win or lose a war. If that was the case, the U.S wouldn’t be a super power. A nation is s super power if it can turn continental size areas into parking lots.

even though their nuclear stockpile will (hopefully) remain intact.Glad that this excerpt included this one statement, so I know not to bother reading the rest!
Anyone who hopes that the Russians maintain their nuclear stockpile is anti-American!
