Disney v. DeSantis: What’s next for Reedy Creek district?

Walt Disney Co.’s future in Florida is being shaped in secret as Gov. Ron DeSantis’ culture war battle with the entertainment giant fades from the national headlines.
One key question has emerged: Who will control a new special district that is expected to replace the Reedy Creek Improvement District? Disney uses Reedy Creek to essentially self-govern its theme park properties in Florida.
The details will likely be hammered out in the next state legislative session that starts in March. Reedy Creek is set to be abolished on June 1, but state leaders say a new district will be created to take its place.
Disney doesn’t want to relinquish control of the district but may consent to state representation on the board, state Sen. Linda Stewart said.
“A lot of it is being done behind the scenes,” said Stewart, D-Orlando. “The DeSantis group is trying to figure out how to look good. Disney is trying to protect the business model.”
Presently, a five-member Board of Supervisors oversees Reedy Creek. As the primary landowner, Disney selects who sits on the board. That allows the Disney-controlled district to issue tax-free bonds, levy taxes, oversee land use and provide essential public services.

Sounds like a conflict of interest.
“In order to maintain “control over the overall development,” Disney and his advisers realized, “the company would have to find a way to limit the voting power of the private residents” even though, they acknowledged, their efforts “violated the Equal Protection Clause” of the U.S. Constitution. Here again the CIA was there to help.”

DeSantis wins by 10.
In some regards this all may be an exercize in futility. As I understand it, since old Walter closed his eyes for the last time, the Disney heirarchy has gone off into child molestation, human trafficking, etc. And numerous prophecies which have been on the internet say the whole wicked, corrupt empire is going to be knocked down.....by The Lord.
Skyler Swisher? Really?
“Disney doesn’t want to relinquish control of the district but may consent to state representation on the board,”
Sounds like they haven’t faced reality yet.
Once DeSantis wins then everything will go back to the way it was before will be my prediction.
The biggest threat to Disney is their business model.
