Putin thought the fix was in at the beginning of the war. Putin was told that he would take Kyiv in 3 days. So Putin didn’t plan to have to fight a real war at the beginning.

British and NATO have been training Ukraine's army ever since Russian invaded and took Crimea in 2014. Genius Putin must have never seen these reports. Or figured his Army could roll over the Ukies anyway. Putin might have been sick and paranoid from Covid and figured he must do now, before he croaks. Ironically, Putin seems healthier now, he thrives on the evil shit he does.
