MOSCOW, October 12. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin quoted Nobel winner Milton Friedman on the reasons for the shortage of goods in the markets, commenting on the Western idea to impose a price cap on Russian energy resources.
"In this regard, I would like to quote American economist, Nobel Prize winner Milton Friedman: ‘We economists don't know much, but we do know how to create a shortage. If you want to create a shortage of tomatoes, for example, just pass a law that retailers can't sell tomatoes for more than two cents per pound. Instantly you'll have a tomato shortage. It's the same with oil or gas’. Let me remind you that Milton Friedman passed away in 2006 and he had nothing to do with the Russian government and can no longer be branded Russian agent of influence," Putin said.
"These appear to be universal facts. However, some nations' leaders and their bureaucratic elite ignore these obvious factors," the Russian leader added.
Cut toe nails make more sense than this administration.
I believe Putin has an economics degree.
And, why would you think that would work? Russia isn't going to sell its oil to countries at some fixed price below market value. And, there are plenty of buyers at market price or at a bulk price Russia agrees to.
It's another worthless idea from the Biden regime.
Such is the logic of one with Russian Derangement Syndrome.
Which as I posted above, was started by the Biden mis-Administration attempting to put a 'price cap' on Russian oil, and the EU went along.
I'll give it to you that you said it more clearly than I did. We're not disagreeing on this point.
I was simply making the point that Putin's citing Milton Friedman was disingenuous and frankly, dishonest. It suited his purposes and it was used out of context. Putin had every intention of weaponizing gas supplies to Europe before Biden stuck his incompetent, incontinent, incoherent, dementia addled foot in his mouth. The fact that Biden tried putting 'price caps' on someone else's natural resource was all the justification Putin needed to do what he did.
Period. Stolen elections have consequences and the world is living them right now.
Nope, he is spot on. Who is going to fix a tomato price in Milton’s example? Sellers?
What is the proof of ‘intention’? Are you s rapist for the fact of being equipped to do so?
Commie’s gonna Commie. All the proof I need. Shame that you don’t see that.
