Members of the security forces of Russia's Chechnya region massed in its capital, Grozny, on Friday to mark Russian President Vladimir Putin's 70th birthday and see local leader Ramzan Kadyrov honoured for supporting Ukrainian separatists.
Kadyrov, one of Putin's most loyal allies, has sent Chechen soldiers to support Moscow's military campaign in Ukraine, notably in the self-styled separatist Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) in the east.
DPR leader Denis Pushilin presented Kadyrov with the medal of a "Hero of the Donetsk People's Republic" before a crowd of service personnel that Chechen television said numbered around 20,000.
Among the ranks of black-clad security forces and soldiers in full battle-dress were members of the "A A Kadyrov" battalion, named after Akhmad Kadyrov, Ramzan's father - a one-time anti-Moscow rebel who switched loyalties to side with Putin's Russia.

How banana republic.
A Ninja missile awaits Kadyrov. He will go the way of Zawahiri.
How things change.
When I was in Russia in the mid-90s - *everything* bad was the fault of the Chechens. If the word was spoken, the Russin would then spit on the ground as though the word itself was dirty.
And now Putin is using them as mercs...
That’s like Murder Incorporated gathering to honor Lucky Luciano.
Smart. And Putin is using them as "barrier troops"

We don’t need to be anywhere within 5000 miles of any of these guys, either side. We have inserted ourself into the middle of the worst kind of centuries old blood feud. Absolutely none of our business.
Like the Ukies don’t use their various neo-Nazi armed groups to kill deserters. Hell, they even passed a law/motion allowing for the killing of deserters.....
Hoping our Putin supporting posters can make this special ceremony.
They should toast their dear leader Putin and his lap dog Kadyrov. 🍾 🍸 🥂
Think I know what this gathering looked like...

Much was different about Russia in the 90s. American tourists flooded the country. US aid was underway to help their agriculture programs. Those days are gone forever now.
No Nazis in Ukraine. You’re welcome.
All kind of neo-Nazis in Kyiv.
Ask John Stewart and the DoD......
I think the Russians are going to have to confront Putin. And his successor might be like Gorbachev or Yeltsin. They're reasonable guys. So Russia will attempt to rebuild their bridges with the West.
But they will have a difficult time getting any trust from the West. And for good reason.
