#2 is going to happen, no question.
These are the two options:
1. Does the US decline gracefully, like the UK did, or
2. Does the US decline pathetically, attacking all its rivals and ensuring that it doesn’t just decline, but rapidly goes down the tubes.

Have you not gotten to the 20th century in your history class yet?
If so you will find that the end of the UK empire was not “graceful” as you describe but did involve some quite large attacks on it rivals know as WWI and WWII.
