Like I said, it’s a tough nut. Given the situation, given Russia’s threats, is there anybody on the entire planet that can be neutral about this? Everybody has picked a side. But it doesn’t change the fact that Russia, America and Germany are the 3 countries that absolutely must NOT be involved. Sweden is about as good a pick as we can muster in this dicked up situation.
Probably correct about Sweden leading it, but inspectors / investigators on the team should also come from non-NATO high-tech POL/diving nations like Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Indonesia etc.
That wouldn’t be a bad plan.
Of course here’s the punchline of the modern world: doesn’t matter. The only people who are going to listen to the results of the investigation are the people who were already thinking what the report said. If it says Russia did it none of the Russia backers are gonna listen. If it says America did it none of the Ukraine backers are gonna listen. If it says Green Peace did it nobody is gonna listen.
People only want info that conforms to their bias, everything else is a lie. Just ask them.
There has been zero evidence pointing to a Russian undersea attack. None that I've seen. That's why some folks are still speculating that the Russians put bombs down the inside of the pipes.
A fish can't swim near Bornholm Island without being recorded.
If Russia wanted to do it in the pipe would be the way. Harder to detect, impossible to block.
