No my thoughts are clouded with the conflicting claims by the propagandists. E.g. the follow claims cannot be simultaneously true:

• Russian equipment is outdated and useless.
• The Ukes are beating the Russians with the latest western high tech gadgets.
• 50% of Uke armored equipment that is being used in battle to defeat the Russians is Russian equipment captured by the Ukes.
• The Russians are running away from the battlefield without their equipment because the Ukes are destroying it all.
• The Russians are being defeated because they cannot supply the ammo for their own equipment.
• The Ukes have plenty of ammo, spare parts, etc. for Russian equipment.
• The Russians who designed and built this equipment don't know how to use it, but the Ukes trained on the much superior western stuff do.

Is he a murder for hire gang type, or an out of control spree killer, or mass murderer? It appears the Wagner soldiers are having morale problems as is reported by a former Wagner commander who hears from Wagners still fighting.

To my knowledge, Russia has no death penalty. So for most of these convicts, being sent to the front is a bet that their prison sentences will be commuted to a pardon upon the completion of their military service. The problem is that upon contact with Ukrainian forces, they are starting to realize that the odds are far better that they will be maimed or killed than be able to serve their full terms without a scratch. Typical convicts are high on the sociopathic scale, so the group cohesion so vital to well-functioning military units is foreign to their way of thinking. In simple terms, they will run at the slightest pressure and kill anyone who gets in their way, Russian or not. Probably easier to get away with killing Russians, since their compatriots will tend to assume that anyone wearing their uniform is friendly.

Ukrainian ground forces? Armed, trained and led by American troops (former troops)

A fair number of Ukrainian troops were trained by NATO forces, including U.S. forces. They are mostly armed with Soviet/Russian style weapons, but have received some American artillery, anti-armir, and anti-air weapons. But the tanks, APC's, artillery, etc. are overhwlemingly their own stuff.

And theu're led by their own people. You have a few Americans in some of the foreign volunteer forces - which Russia also has - but it's overhwlemingly their own leadership. And, they're doing the overwhelming majority of their own fighting and dying.

We're actually supporting them much less than Russia supported the North Vietnamese.
