It’s what came up first in the Google search for demographics of the town.

The black figure aligns with yours. The main point of divergence is they lumped Hispanic in with white and other, not giving it’s own category.

FBI UCR does that too for perps, putting Hispanic criminals in the white bucket.

There was a police strike in 1975 in Albuquerque, New Mexico that I recall reading about. Crime went down, because armed locals started patrolling, and taking prisoners did not seem an option.

OK, I see. Thanks for figuring that out. Yes, Hispanics are "White" when they want to do crime statistics. But when they they want to do "poor me" sob statistics then Hispanic is a separate "race". It's wonderful to be born with reversible all-weather skin.

When I lived in Vt, my town got rid of their Sheriff’s Dept. contract. They spent their time moving prisoners and ignored the around town duties. + the elected Sheriff at the time was caught embezzling. The State Police could handle the real crimes if needed and probably faster.

My little town, population 1,600, has 4 full time and 5 part time officers, they each must live within town limits and each has a patrol car they take home with them with the stipulation that the cars not be garaged but parked in driveway or on the street when not in use. The cars may also be used for personal business within town and a five mile radius of town.

Officers, full or part time must be armed at all times in public on or off duty within the state. Concealed or open carry but if open carrying the badge must be visible, as a result they all carry concealed off duty not wanting their badges to become bullseyes. Not following all or any of these rules is ground for dismissal. Some are based on state law and some terms of employment.

As a town councilman, I helped draft these rules 20 years ago (actually I wrote them but the council and mayor agreed) and all works well.

Broward County IS run by left wing lunatics. Neither Broward nor Palm Beach have voted GOP since 1988 (and Broward only went GOP in 1988 by a few hundred votes).

I’ll bet the crime rate in your town is damn near zero with such policies in place.
