All the more reason Germany should import wood pellets made in Maine. Eastport, ME has a system to quickly load pellets on to ships.

Pellets where I am (Sicily) went from 5 Euros per 15Kg bag to ~15 Euros per bag. Good luck finding them, too since Eastern Europe, who is a big exporter, shut down exports to insure that their folks won't go without.

I heat my top floor with a pellet stove but I caught wind of this "Take THAT Putin!!" lunacy many months ago and planned accordingly - modified my stove to burn crushed olives pits (4 Euros per 15Kg) and bought two small woodstoves as backup. Unlike in Germany, I can drive down to the lake here and get as much free wood as I want. A lot of work though, but it helps me stay in decent shape.
