I need to find the link for it. But there was an excellent made-for-TV play called “Countdown To War”, it featured Ian MacKellen as Hitler, who I must say, really did a good job, maybe the best “English” Hitler portrayal I’ve seen.
It goes in detail what happened behind the scenes in the days leading up to the start of the war.
Britain and America have technology that would be useful to Poland. The West has a backup plan in case Russia gains the upper hand in Ukraine. Not likely now, but fortunes of war can change. Putin or maybe his successor may decide to punish Poland and bring the Baltic States back into a revived USSR.

Poland held out for at least 5 weeks; Britain was unwilling to go to war with both Germany AND the USSR (since both invaded Poland). Britain proceeded with the war, losing countless lives, only to see Poland emerge as a Soviet satellite at the end. Churchill in particular knew the Brits had lost so much blood and treasure for nothing at all except to lose their empire as well.
