NYC may be safer than other cities. That’s not saying much for those other cities she cites.
And where will people go? Probably the hell out of any city these days.

After the BLM/Antifa riots, why would anyone expose themselves to such an unsafe environment? Those events, especially the 2015 mass hostage event in Baltimore (when baseball fans couldn’t leave the stadium for hours after the game ended because of black riots), showed these cities are no safer than Stanleyville in the Congo in 1964 - and bad cities paid a price.
COVID put the last nail in the coffin for cities regarding affluent residents; it showed how much freedom they sacrificed by living in the hives, and remote work (from outside the cities) was the response of many.
