Taiwan’s armed forces, which is tiny (something like 200K authorized active duty soldiers) can’t even come close to meeting its already small, government authorized/funded manpower requirements. 1/3 of units are considered inoperable because of manpower shortage

As an anecdote, I have a long-term business associate in Taiwan. He told me his son just finished his required “national military service” - 4 months total, and the kid didn’t fire a rifle one time.

I wonder who is going to operate all these new weapons?
