I don't know all the details, but if studying leadership it would make sense to study many types of leaders and see what made them powerful, and were they good or evil. Lee vs. Grant, Patton vs. Rommel, Hitler vs. Stalin vs. Truman,...... There would be some grey areas in there.
Now if he was glorifying Hitler as a great man, that is a whole ‘nother kettle of fish.

IMO the weird thing is immediately after WWII if you were to say Hitler had remarkable leadership skills it wouldn’t have been considered controversial as it is today.
It would’ve been understood it wasn’t an expression of approval, but simply stating the obvious.
