Bolsonaro Outperforms Polls and Forces Runoff Against Lula in Brazil’s Presidential Election

RIO DE JANEIRO — For months, pollsters and analysts had said that President Jair Bolsonaro was doomed. He faced a wide and unwavering deficit in Brazil’s high-stakes presidential race, and in recent weeks, the polls had suggested he could even lose in the first round, ending his presidency after just one term.

Instead, it was Mr. Bolsonaro who was celebrating. While the challenger, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, a former leftist president, finished the night ahead, Mr. Bolsonaro far outperformed forecasts and sent the race to a runoff.

Mr. da Silva received 48.4 percent of the votes, and Mr. Bolsonaro 43.23 percent, with 99.87 percent of the ballots counted, according to Brazil’s elections agency. Mr. da Silva needed to exceed 50 percent to be elected president in the first round.

They will face off on Oct. 30 in what is widely regarded as the most important vote in decades for Latin America’s largest nation.

That is partly because of the starkly different visions the two men set forth for this country of 217 million people, and partly because Brazil faces a host of challenges, including environmental threats, rising hunger, a sputtering economy and a deeply polarized population.

But the election will also be widely watched in Brazil and abroad because it is seen as a major test for one of the world’s largest democracies. For months, Mr. Bolsonaro has criticized the nation’s electronic voting machines as rife with fraud — without any evidence — and has suggested that the only way he would lose is if the election is rigged.

3 Oct: Gateway Pundit: “Biggest Victory for Patriots in the History of Brazil” Despite MASSIVE Fraud!
By Richard Abelson
Massive irregularities seem to support Jair Bolsonaro’s warnings against Brazil’s purely electronic voting system, which has no paper ballots at all...

On Sunday, October 2nd, contrary to all predictions, Bolsonaro was leading at 7:22 pm local time, with 47.01% of the votes (22,028,936 votes) and 44.16% for Lula da Silva (20,693,810 votes), with 41.19% of the votes counted...

The tally ended up with 57,357,473 votes for Lula da Silva (48,43%) and 51,071,106 votes for Bolsonaro (43,20%) at 5:14 am Oct. 3, with 99,99% of votes counted.

Disregarding the votes for other candidates, this means that Bolsonaro received 51.57% of votes cast for either candidate up until 7:22 pm, and Lula da Silva 48.43%. Between 7:22 pm and 5:14 am the next morning, Bolsonaro received only 44.20% of votes cast for either candidate, and Lula da Silva 55.80%. It was not clear what could have caused such a huge statistical anomaly...

Remarkably, Bolsonaro allegedly lost in the state of Minas Gerais, where he began his 2022 election campaign and was almost stabbed to death by an assassin in 2018. In the same state, his candidate for the Chamber of Deputies, Nicolas Ferreira, won by a landslide, by 1,492,047 votes to 238,967 for the socialist opponent André Janones.

While Bolsonaro allegedly lost to Lula da Silva, his Liberal Party was the clear winner and largest party in Parliament, with 24.9% in the Senate and 16.5% in the Chamber of Deputies – another seeming anomaly...

ournalist Matthew Tyrmand pointed out the voting machines in Brazil are made by Smartmatic, originally from Venezuela. Smartmatic was headed by Lord Mark Malloch-Brown before he was appointed head of the Open Society Foundations by George Soros in 2021...

I believe it was on the Tucker Carlson Show last night that Tucker noted that the polling, etc. done on this election had been such a disgrace and utter blunders/fiasco not seen since the 2016 polling, etc. fiasco.

Hopefully, Bolsonaro will overcome the odds and any cheating like Mauricio Macri did in Aregentina in 2015.
