The problem is that Chao's family is from Taiwan, not from Communist China, and she was born in Taiwan. And if you know any other those people, they're not exactly fans of the CCP. So, the idea that her national origin would make her biased towards Communist China doesn't hold up.
The only way you can assume bias is if your judge her based on her race/ethnicity.
