German Federal Economy Minister Robert Habeck expressed concern over the looming energy crisis this winter, telling German media that the situation was extremely tense and there is a possibility that Germany may run out of gas.
Habeck spoke on Friday, appealing to Germans to reduce their consumption of natural gas ahead of this winter a day after the German government launched a new price break programme to help Germans with the rising costs of energy.

Hitler made his own Oil from Coal so with all the tech today Germany should have no trouble making Gas
Agree. Germany must apologize to Trump....or freeze.
Is Ploesti up and running?
Whose advice would you rather follow?
I would choose the first person pictured below. The Germans chose the second.

Two big problems it would take years to implement and the water usage is very high (ENVIRONMENTAL).
Just before I retired at BP, one group in the building was celebrating!! Their results were very positive and the lot of them were taken out for a very nice lunch...
I can tell of it now that my NDA is expired and it is public knowledge. They developed a successful COAL TO OIL process which was sold to the Chinese for hundreds of millions of dollars! And soon started construction...
China builds plant to turn coal into barrels of oil
“The United States, Australia and India are among those countries looking at CTL technology but are constrained by environmental concerns associated with the process which releases excessive amounts of carbon gases into the atmosphere and consumes huge amounts of water.”
Hey, Germany, turn your nuke on and fire up your coal plants.
Just sayin’.
Tell the Greens to...ya know.
But how can this be???? After all, Germany is NOT RELIANT on Russian gas. They assured us. The “fact check” done by the corporate media confirmed it.
Therefore, there cannot possibly be a problem in Germany now. Alles ist in Ordnung and they have nothing to worry about.
Nicht Wahr?
Thanks Joe, for blowing up the natural gas pipeline... we don't need no stinkin' commie gas to stay warm. We really appreciate your help.
That was in Romania.
After painting themselves into a corner, the Germans now have a ready made excuse for their plight...Russia sabotaged the pipeline.
Blockhead doesn’t even begin to describe them.
“I remember the German government laughing at Trump in 2018 telling them to be warned about Russia and their natural gas.”
I remember some Freepers laughing at this possibility a week ago!
Yes Finance Minister, when your government prevents consumers from paying higher prices for an item with supply issues the outcome is shortages.
Wasn’t Shell involved with some such project in SW Pennsylvania back around 2008?
I seem to remember hearing at the time that over a $40/bbl price for crude would make the process profitable.
If they subsidize it, they will most definitely run out.
I know, but they can export. My uncle was killed on the great Ploesti raid.

IIRC many of the majors were working on it.
Mostly I remember the goofy stuff, like safety requiring an outside explosive storage container for the coal that sometimes was shipped via the US Post Office.
They had a small pallet load of coal just sitting out for some time before it was noticed.
I think the area was zoned as Class II Div 1.
Also, a different process, coal gasification, and the Chinese are on it too.
At the time all the talk was about buying stock and making a bundle. Mostly talk as you could be suddenly unemployed and worse.
What the Germans need now is Fartvergnugen!
