Action will halt issuance of fracking permits by 2024
SACRAMENTO – Governor Gavin Newsom today directed the Department of Conservation’s Geologic Energy Management (CalGEM) Division to initiate regulatory action to end the issuance of new permits for hydraulic fracturing (“fracking”) by January 2024. Additionally, Governor Newsom requested that the California Air Resources Board (CARB) analyze pathways to phase out oil extraction across the state by no later than 2045.
“The climate crisis is real, and we continue to see the signs every day,” said Governor Newsom. “As we move to swiftly decarbonize our transportation sector and create a healthier future for our children, I’ve made it clear I don’t see a role for fracking in that future and, similarly, believe that California needs to move beyond oil.”

Gas stations should add line items on the receipt detailing the fed/state/local taxes and fees.
Newsom is as stupid as Bidet. No matter what Kalifornia or the US as a whole does,
there will be NO effect on climate as long as China and India are operating thousands of coal burning power plants.
Newsom and the democrats have banned oil and gas drilling. Shutting down nuclear, hydro and coal power plants. Ban use of gas cars and gas appliances. No personal gas powered generators for when the power goes out when it is shut off randomly by the democrats.
Yet he blames the oil companies while Biden blames the gas station owners.... for high prices
Stfu newsome. I lived in Socal (unfortunately) for 4 years and left in 2017. Nothing has changed one bit. The three oil companies that control that crap are all in on it. Chevron. Tesoro. Velero. And they just buy off crooked politicians of which there are plenty esp in SoCal. *I suspect that Chevron will change its name eventually to “El Chevron” or something similar. Newsome is right where he wants to be...in the pocket of big oil.
