I became a climate activist 16 years ago. Back then, not many people cared about climate change. The eye rolls were audible. Media coverage was scarce, and what little there was glibly included “both sides”. It was frustrating and tragic to see such a clear and present danger and to know that it was still mostly avoidable, yet ignored by society.
I assumed that intensifying, in-your-face climate disasters would serve as a sort of backstop to finally force action. I even hoped that humanity would listen to scientists and start acting before things got that bad. I didn’t think this was too much to expect; after all, the scientific fundamentals are easy enough to grasp.
But things have turned out worse than I dreamed possible. I underestimated the depth and intransigence of society’s collective climate denial.
To understand what an emergency we are now in, you only need to look at a few of the most recent disasters. Hurricane Ian has just pummeled Cuba and Florida. The full extent of the disaster will only be revealed in the coming days and weeks, although first looks are shocking. But we do know with certainty that Ian was supercharged by global heating through several well-understood fundamental physics pathways.
In short, it has been a summer of climate insanity. But even so, this will be, on average, the coolest summer with the least climate chaos for the rest of your life. That is just the nature of trends. It should be terrifying.
Rising global heat is driving all the chaos. About 80% and 15% of global heating is due to the fossil fuel and animal agriculture industries, respectively. So long as these global industries exist, the planet will keep heating and climate chaos will keep getting worse. It’s that simple, and that inexorable.

“Climate change denial now a ‘mental condition’”

More BS from the Climate Nazi’s. It has been the lowest Hurricane season in 30 years.
I think the WEF has a big stake in this publication.
And to look at the scale of British Stupidity, read at the Guardian.
What climate emergency?
> The eye rolls were audible.
They still are.
“Execute the deniers!”

In short, it has been a summer of climate insanity.
And the author’s insanity is on display for all to see.
We can no longer suffer these fools, as they threaten our food, our transportation, our heating and cooling and energy industry. They can hold whatever cockamamie theories they want but they must never, ever be in positions of authority.
CO2 is a vital trace gas that is vital to all life on earth. All life on earth would benefit from a little more of it, not less of it. We are still slowly recovering from the last ice age and that is a good thing.
There were no hurricanes before 2005. And now there are hundreds every year, the kind that kill millions of people of color.
To understand the lying leftist propaganda state of ‘journalism’ Look at ‘The Guardian’
I guess that this hysterical author has never heard of such historical storms as the Galveston hurricane of 1900 or the New England hurricane of 1938, or Camille or Agnes, or even the storms that wrecked Columbus’ fleet during his 4th voyage.
The climo-fascists finally got a hurricane.
If they had been around 100 years ago Camille would have never happened.
WTH IS THAT?
Yes, this climate stuff is just BS.
Look at the facts: there has been fewer major hurricane categorized as ones above cat 2 to hit the US in the last 40 years than during the previous 40 years. This storm, while fierce is no where near as powerful as the 1935 hurricane that hit the Keys. The difference is being measured in damage and that area of Florida has seen an enormous build up of people and property building over the last 40 years. Same level storm lands in the big bend area of florida, much less damage and less media attention.
But the money is now in foisting EVs and so called renewable energy on the planet. It is like ESG for energy now. If they were so concerned about the use of fossil fuels, we would all be nuked up 100%.
There's a mental condition for you.

But we do know with certainty that Ian was supercharged by global heating through several well-understood fundamental physics pathways
We do NOT know this with certainty. This points up another problem, namely, how do we discuss the issues, when there is no agreement on the facts of a situation?
HURRICAINES HAVE BEEN WITH US SINCE BEFORE HISTORY, AND THEY HAVE GOTTEN NEITHER WORSE NOR BETTER!
THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THAT IN THE INFORMATION AGE WE HAVE TELEVISION ETC. AND KNOW MORE ABOUT THEM!
