Trump launches direct attack on McConnell a month out from midterm elections
CNN ^ | 6/30/22 | Eric Bradner, CNN

Former President Donald Trump on Friday night directly ridiculed Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, saying on his social media platform that the Kentucky Republican had a "death wish" for supporting "Democrat sponsored bills."

Trump, in his Truth Social post, also mocked McConnell's wife, Elaine Chao -- who was born in Taiwan and served as Trump's secretary of transportation -- referring to her as McConnell's "China loving wife, Coco Chow!"

Trump's broadside at McConnell and mockery of Chao came hours after Congress approved and President Joe Biden signed a stopgap funding bill to avert a federal government shutdown. The bill cleared the Senate on a 72-25 vote Thursday and the House on a 230-201 vote Friday.

… the short-term funding measure provides around $12 billion for Ukraine, and it includes funding for disaster relief. The measure funds the government through December 16.

"Is McConnell approving all of these Trillions of Dollars worth of Democrat sponsored Bills, without even the slightest bit of negotiation, because he hates Donald J. Trump, and he knows I am strongly opposed to them, or is he doing it because he believes in the Fake and Highly Destructive Green New Deal, and is willing to take the Country down with him?" Trump wrote. "In any event, either reason is unacceptable. He has a DEATH WISH. Must immediately seek help and advise from his China loving wife, Coco Chow!"

It is reasonable to assume a Republican takeover of the Senate, my projection is for 53 Republican senators possibly one or two north of that in a wave election which is not unlikely.

How does the Senate work these days? Clearly, MAGA Republicans will have too few votes to outright win the leadership position. McConnell will have a plurality if not a majority of Republican votes because he still controls so much money. Assuming the MAGA Republicans will vote as a block, could they threaten to vote in a Democrat if Republicans refused to consider no one other than McConnell? Perhaps a less distasteful establishment Republican?

Once a leader is elected for a Senate term, can he be overthrown by revolt among the Senators, much as occurs in the British party system for the Prime Minister during the course of that term?

Will the MAGA senators at least have enough votes to secure a promise from McConnell that he will commit to certain issues, for example a restraint on spending? How would that promise be enforced?

These are issues I raise for discussion because I simply do not know the answers but it seems to me we might be on the cusp of some change in the way the Senate does its business.

Trump's going for the jugular. Love him or hate him, he calls it as he sees it and doesn't pull any punches.

How refreshing.

Sometime after the election or after Christmas comes the deluge.

With the economy in freefall and inflation out of control, with sovereign debt threatened, we have a whole new world in which restraints on spending are not just conceivable but actually compulsory. Granted, there will be a war between those who want to spend their way out of this disaster opposed by those who want to cut taxes and regulations and spending.

In that war, Senators must choose. How they choose might well determine the fate of the country, certainly might determine their electoral fate.

Fiscal restraint might well be conceivable.

All good questions - I wish I knew the answers.

I don’t even think the red wave will materialize. After witnessing the 2020 election theft and subsequent gaslighting, I’m convinced the uniparty corruption is too deep and widespread to overwhelm with actual votes.

Neither party’s power brokers have any intention of being accountable to voters - the elections are completely rigged.

Trump’s win in 2016 caught both parties by surprise - but they won’t let an outsider win again - they will just make sure they cheat sufficiently - or make sure that any Republican candidate allowed to win will be a Romney-type, acceptable to the uniparty. The fake DOJ and the fake news will happily lie for them.

The only hope is a real revolution and they have that base covered as well. By demonizing patriots as violent insurrectionists and conspiracy nut cases, they have criminalized the populist movement. If they can throw us in jail for protesting, just imagine what they can do if we take up arms.

We will still be allowed to vote and attend rallies, but they won’t let us into the rooms where votes are verified and tallied - they won’t let us audit the election results - they certainly won’t hand over the reins.

When Trump was President (not that he’s not), spending was under control. Another 4 years and the National Debt would have been paid off. Good job President Trump laying the blame where it belongs - with McConnell!

Its going to take more time and a few more election cycles to fully displace the RINO Establishment. What MAGA Senators can do for now is join with some of the dissidents like Hawley and Rand Paul to cause trouble for the RINOs. In 2024, we can take out some more of them - like Pierre Delecto.

Let it get to the point that we have a block of 12-15 Senators who will vote MAGA and that would be something the RINOs could not simply brush aside. Especially not as everybody else in the party sees which way the political wind is blowing.

When Trump was President (not that he’s not), spending was under control.

In 2020 just before COVID the federal budget deficit was projected to be around $1 trillion. This was when both unemployment and inflation were at record lows. I hardly call that 'under control'.

Another 4 years and the National Debt would have been paid off.

Not even close to being true. The deficit under Trump increased by several trillion under Trump.

In 1984, when Ronald Reagan won a 49 state landslide and missed the 50th state by 3,761 votes in Minnesota, Mitch McConnell limped over the finish line in Kentucky by 5,269 votes. And only then because Reagan came to Kentucky multiple times to campaign for him.
