Interesting as Bandera and his organization were US assets in the 1950’s. I don’t think they were part of the Gehlen organization which was our largest set of intel assets with inside the USSR contacts. The Gehlen Operat was heavily compromised with Soviet moles. Bandera boys not so much. The CIA did help various anti Soviet forces in the hilly western Ukraine keep an armed resistence going until almost the 60’s. In the Cold War we took our assets where we could find them. It really was a world war with less shooting. Hard to even remember those days now.

We had a lot of baddies as "assets" during the Cold War.
