Former President Trump on Wednesday offered to help negotiate a deal to end Russia's now 7-month-old war on Ukraine, following reports of a major natural gas pipeline from Russia to Europe appearing to have been sabotaged.
"Be strategic, be smart (brilliant!), get a negotiated deal done NOW," Trump posted on his social media platform Truth Social. "Both sides need and want it. The entire World is at stake. I will head up group???"
Trump also posted: "U.S. 'Leadership' should remain 'cool, calm, and dry' on the SABOTAGE of the Nord Stream Pipelines. The Russia/Ukraine catastrophe should NEVER have happened, and would definitely not have happened if I were President."
About 15 minutes before offering to lead negotiations, Trump wrote on Truth Social that the apparent sabotage of the pipelines "could lead to a major escalation" in the Russia-Ukraine conflict or even to a larger "war."

Yes, but both sides want a different deal.
Ukrainians will refuse cede any territory, especially after all the casualties and destruction they've suffered.
Putin will refuse to go home empty-handed, especially all the casualties and costs Russia has suffered.
It was the same in World War One. Both sides regretted the war by 1916 and desperately wanted it to end. But neither side could tell their people, Hey, it was all for nothing. We're all returning to pre-war borders.

Now Putin needs a graceful exit with the US and EU picking up the tab for rebuilding Ukraine.

But when they really cause damage to the USA, and it becomes obvious to all of America - Trump can at least say: “See? I told you so.”

“For the duration” was the deal offered and accepted. That time frame is now over.

Trump knows how to negotiate. I think he would offer Russia a pretty good deal.
* Russia gets Crimea
* Ukraine won’t officially join NATO
* Rest of occupied land goes back to Ukraine, but with protections for Russian language and culture.
Then he would tell Putin that he gets 30 days to accept the deal, or the full force of the American military will be deployed to the region. Carrot and stick.
All of that is obviously true and it does warrant constant repetition until the misinformed, clueless Democrats/RINOs finally get it.
