President Joe Biden’s foreign policy advisers are concerned that a victory by Italian leader Giorgia Meloni could weaken the united European coalition pushing back against Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Meloni represents a populist-nationalist shift in power after Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi sought to align Italy with the European Union and teamed up with the G7 nations to push back against Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“If Ukraine falls and the West perishes, the big winner will not be (Vladimir) Putin’s Russia, but Xi Jinping’s China,” Meloni said.
“And those who are weakest in the West, namely Europe, risk finding themselves under Chinese influence. So we have to fight this battle”

Meloni is hardly a "radical." Italy is effectively trapped in the Euro system and Euro central bank. there are strong technical and also market limits on how much she can reduce taxes or spend (even if she gets parliament to agree). So she's operating a tight leash. She said she supports NATO, supports Ukraine, has not claimed Italy will leave the EU. She's basically against some details of EU-imposed austerity, and will use her public support to negotiate details of that.
Yes, she's a social conservative, but otherwise, don't expect much change. IMHO
And she’s way better looking than them too.
