He was drunk. Hit the kid and had to come up with some excuse. He just CREATED this story because he thought it would save his bacon. I bet he never even saw this kid before. It was an accident that needed an explanation and, again, they blamed it on Trump.
There was definitely a prior interaction of some kind because the victim phoned his mom twice about Brandt. The first time was to ask if they (his parents) knew Brandt. The second call was that he’s being chased.
I think what the cops are saying is that they have found no witnesses to corroborate the alleged “political” argument and no friends or acquaintances that corroborate the claim that the victim was a MAGA extremist.
That first phone all could be an indication that the interaction between the two was more personal in some way as yet unknown.
