Putin’s top priest tells Russians not to fear death amid mobilization

The head of the Russian Orthodox Church urged Russians not to fear death after some 300,000 reservists were called up to fight in Ukraine.

“Go bravely to fulfill your military duty. And remember that if you lay down your life for your country, you will be with God in his kingdom, glory and eternal life,” Patriarch Kirill, a staunch ally of President Vladimir Putin, said in a sermon at the Zachatyevsky Monastery in Moscow on Wednesday.

Kirill, who has justified the invasion of Ukraine by arguing that Russians and Ukrainians were historically one people, said in his sermon that a person of “true faith” is not afraid of dying.

According to the clergyman, a person becomes “invincible” when he stops fearing death.

“It is the fear of death that drives a warrior from the battlefield, that prompts the weak to commit betrayal and sets brother against brother. But true faith destroys the fear of death,” Kirill pontificated following a liturgy celebrating the birth of the Virgin Mary.

Patriarch Kirill, left, Vladimir Putin's top priest, urged Russians not to fear death after the president, right, ordered the mobilizations of 300,000 reservists. In his remarks to the congregation, Kirill also urged Russians not to view Ukrainians as their enemies.

“We know the kind of danger is hanging over the Ukrainian people,” the religious leader said, claiming that attempts were being made to transform Ukraine into a nation hostile to Russia.

“We must pray today that God strengthens fraternal feelings between the nations of the Holy Rus,” Kirill preached...

Putin's mouthpiece, Patriarch Kirill, publicly perverting his mission which is to be a representative of Christ to his people. LOL, says a person becomes “invincible” when he stops fearing death and that that attempts were being made to transform Ukraine into a nation hostile to Russia.

Christ’s resurrection tells us we need not fear death.

So your propaganda-ridden BS is irrelevant.

"Go bravely to fulfill your military duty. And remember that if you lay down your life for your country, you will be with God in his kingdom, glory and eternal life,”

Sounds suspiciously like the Muslim call to suicidal jihad with its promise of seventy-two virgins.

Maybe at this point, Putin should order up a hundred of their priests to assemble and be on the front-line for the troops, and see how friendly the church is.

"Remember that if you lay down your life for your country, you will be with God in his kingdom." That is what they all said from Lakota war chiefs, to the Mahdi in the Sudan, to the Taliban.

The Russian Patriarch is much more serious about his faith than the fake Catholic in the Vatican - reason #72 Europe is going to lose this war.

KGB affiliation

Forbes reported on February 20, 2009 that, "Kirill, who was the Metropolitan of Smolensk, succeeds Alexei II who died in December after 18 years as head of the Russian Church. According to material from the Soviet archives, Kirill was a KGB agent (as was Alexei). This means he was more than just an informer, of whom there were millions in the Soviet Union. He was an active officer of the organization. Neither Kirill nor Alexei ever acknowledged or apologized for their ties with the security agencies."

Further reporting from March 7, 2022 from The Guardian's Emma Graham-Harrison interviewed local Ukrainians for their opinions about Kirill and the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine. The response was mostly a pessimistic view of Kirill and his motives towards Ukraine based on his past as a KGB agent:

Like many Ukrainians who no longer trust the Russian-linked churches in their country, Yuir is particularly wary of the Moscow Patriarch, Kirill, who according to material from Soviet archives was a government agent before the fall of the USSR. "Kirill is a KGB guy, and he supports all aggression against Ukraine," he said, but asked not to give his last name, worried like many in the town about community tensions about the church. "He’s a bastard, not a religious leader."

As if you know one thing about Christianity, Zoomer.

Then again, neither does Russia, as only 7% of the “faithful” even attend church once a month over there.

You know things have gone to sh*t for Ukraine when the propaganda peddlers are having to resort to attacking the Russian Orthodox Church.

Like when he was on the board of the World Council of Churches, infamous purveyor of Marxist Liberation Theology... of which he was on KGB assignment to spread!

Him and Frankie would get along just as well as Kirill got along with Castro, his brother Raul, and other Marxist allies of Russia in Latin America.

An easy thing to do considering its long history of KGB control and use as an instrument of state oppression, both in the past and currently.

Then again, considering you ALSO defend the Communist Party of China, you're probably a big fan of state controlled religions.

France: 12%
Spain: 15%
Greece: 16%

So much for that state controlled religions and KGB control and use of state oppression....

Easy enough.

Who cares? No one claims Norway and Sweden are the Seats of True Christendom, the high seats of morality and glorious salvation, which is what we hear from the Qtards and other conspiracy swine on this website about Russia, including from you. And notice you didn't quote the USA's numbers, which hover around 31-34%!

USA? Oh, my bad. Simply did not want to highlight that ‘long history’ of FBI/CIA ‘control and use as an instrument of state oppression’.....
