Italy's right-wing parties will stage a joint rally Thursday in a final push ahead of elections forecast to install a one-time fan of Mussolini as the country's first female prime minister.
Giorgia Meloni's eurosceptic, ultra-conservative Brothers of Italy was leading the last polls published two weeks before election day Sunday.
She and her allies, Matteo Salvini's anti-immigration League and ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi's Forza Italia, look almost certain to form the first far-right led government in Rome since World War II.
The elections in Italy, the eurozone's third largest economy but plagued by weak growth, colossal debt and unstable politics, are being closely watched in Brussels.
Meloni has sought to reassure investors worried about her links with Italy's post-fascist movement, while at the same time wooing voters disaffected with the status quo.
"As Gandhi said, 'first they ignore you, then they mock you, then they fight you. Then you win," she tweeted Wednesday, with a photo of her fingers formed as a V for Victory.

No bias there, no-sirree.
May I presume Italian elections are not done the Chicago way?
Fascism is a “far LEFT” ideology. Benito Mussolini was a communist before striking out on his own.

Mustn’t mention that Italy is being flooded with illegal immigrants from that unmentionable continent to the south.
I’ll assume Italian elections are done the Corleone way.....
Will these leaders get the Trump treatment?
The West dies, held in check by its collective moral conscience, it refuses even to rally at the end of its existence.
Back in the day, it was Stalin who decided who was left or right. Trotsky and various other Commies who angered him were "left deviationist" (too far left). Stalin was perfect. Everyone else was right wing, be it Mussolini or Hamilton Fish.
National Socialists in Germany were far right until September 1939, then they were OK left wing until June 1940, then far right again forever.
Something similar still operates, even though there isn't a charismatic big boss Communist father figure presiding.
Yes ... the communists whether in America or elsewhere have arrogated to themselves the power to define “right” and “left”.
But facts are stubborn things.
Mussolini was a card-carrying commie; fascism was just his particular, Italian nationalist, take on communism.
Hitler was inspired by the ideology of Karl Marx. National socialism was his particular, German nationalist, take on Marxism.
Totally biased reporting. She’s no fan of Mussolini. Italy was doing well under Matteo Salvini, until the democrat party conspired to get rid of him.
As long as the EU exists, I’m very skeptical that ANY change in Italy can made, regardless of who is elected.
Brussels will ALWAYS be in charge.
Stalin was a “National Socialist”, he believed in “Socialism in One Country”, and Russian superiority over the other ethnic groups of the Soviet Union, despite being Georgian himself.

Italy wasn’t doing well.
It’s budget is a fiscal nightmare.
The EU has Italy by its short hairs because of that.
Since Italians have zero interest in living within their means, it’s really all about what the EU wants.
The PIIGS are circling the bowl again.
If the EU can’t get the UK back and/or scam enough money out of the US treasury to keep their ponzi scheme running, the EU may kick Italy to the curb.
After travelling to Italy last year, I vow never to go back. The place is a dumpster fire. Make no mistake, Commies run the big cities.

Southern Europeans like to be riding in the wagon.

Brussels is NOT in charge in the UK.
Thank God for that.
