You bet I did. I was awarded the Afghanistan Campaign medal, among others, for my time over there. And some of my missions took me outside the wire. So I can legitimately call myself an Afghanistan veteran.

Like I'm a Viet Nam era Vet but in my six years active duty I had almost resort type duty stations, Biloxi, MS - Sacramento, CA - Azores Islands, Portugal - and Tampa FL.

But I did hear of one of those types of places that wouldn't be on any personal records, only civilian clothing and no ID.   That's only hearsay so I wouldn't swear to it, but I believed the guy.
