“Patton once observed that we should fight the Russians now, while we have the army here to defeat them, or we will surely have to fight them later at greater difficulty.”
Patton was referring to the Soviet Union - wound up we never had to fight them.
As to Russia, now, same thing, we never HAD to fight them - we CHOSE to fight them.
Patton said “Russia” not “Soviet Union”. He was very clear.
“As to Russia, now, same thing, we never HAD to fight them - we CHOSE to fight them.”
You know zilch about history. An aggressor is forever hungry, and needs feeding. And they don’t stop until they are so sated they become obese, and lazy, and start to decay; or they are defeated and destroyed. Bullies haven’t changed; they are so very predictable.
So, is it your preference that victims just accept the aggression, and hope the aggressor tires?
