I don’t believe that Russia was a country in the 1930s and the person running the Soviet Union wasn’t even a Russian.

I equate this with the Japs invading Manchuria in 1931. It set the wheels in motion.

Are your for real. Russia was part of the Soviet Union. Historically the goals of the Soviet Union mirrored that of Russia. The core leadership of the Soviet Union was Russian.
