There is nothing to “suspect” here. Russia has lost its war against the Ukrainian military and will return to its specialty of “fighting” women and children. Frankly, it’s all the Russian military is capable of. It’s designed from the ground up for this “mission.”

But Stalin was a Russophile, and favored ethnic Russians, uprooting populations of more fertile lands who had lived there for centuries, in favor of ethnic Russians, also mandating that the Russian language be the main language taught throughout the entire Soviet Union.
Yes, Stalin rejected Lenin and Trotsky’s Internationalism, in favor of the traditional Russian geopolitical aims, a buffer in central Europe.

Russia hasn’t declared full mobilization yet. I suspect she was trying to avoid that, as the costs to the economy and social fabric will be VERY high. Imagine the US doing so.
The question is what resources are left to fight with?
Remember the Hypersonic missiles that were supposed to wipe out Nato? Those are mostly gone. When you buy ammo from NK and drones from Iran, things are not going as well as hoped.
All because homo-erotic dancer Zelensky wanted to join NATO.
Germany declared war on Russia in 1914, because the Russians didn't stop their mobilization. Nicky and his cousin, The Kaiser, even wrote to each other trying to stop it, but to no avail.
By declaring the contested territories Russian land, they can send conscripts.
That is happening.
I also suspect that by doing the above, they can then claim Russia has been invaded and use their alliances to pull other aligned nations in to the fight.
So Belarus, which has been quietly sitting by since the opening days, will be compelled to attack by their treaty.
