I had to step over three bodies in the grocery store just yesterday. They used to police them up much faster.
I could have sworn they downgraded covid from pandemic to endemic a lot longer ago than August. Maybe not a year but many months ago.

Interesting. Watching the 2nd half of the GB-Chicago game tonight. There was a Phizer commercial stating that if you were obese, high blood pressure, diabetic, asthma, or any other underlying condition, your chances of contracting COVID and severely suffering from it, were far greater than those without underlying conditions. What we have been saying since the start of this crap.

Mr Masson (managing director of Tribute Funeral Services in the western Melbourne suburb of Ravenhall) believed more working age Australians are dying but doesn’t have specific statistics to back this.
‘We certainly have seen a distinct shift back to people in their 60s, 50s and even late or mid 40s and even younger,’ he said...
Mr Masson revealed he had been asked a number of times about increased death rates but had no particular explanation other than Covid being ‘let rip’.
However, he noted there had also been more deaths from cancer, heart attacks and other diseases, which he put down to the way Australians live...
The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) confirms Australians have been dying at rate higher than normal this year...
‘There has been excess mortality recorded in 2022 across all months, with both the number of deaths and the rate of death generally higher than historical averages,’ an ABS spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia.
‘In May, there were 16,124 deaths, which is 13.5 per cent higher than the average of deaths we would normally see occurring in May (14,202).’...
The ABS said those dying were still largely over 75...
Britain has seen a 10 per cent increase above what would be the expected number of deaths since April...
Mr Masson said Covid was still a deadly threat that most people were now ignoring...

Remember the whole student loan forgiveness thing? That was predicated on the covid emergency. A bunch of other stuff is tied to it as well, I think that also includes bypassing normal procedures for rolling out vaccines.
Ending the official recognition of the pandemic as a national emergency won't be happening until it's made to happen. Someone is either going to trot out a logic-defying retraction in the next two days or, much less likely, someone realizes that if the republicans take control of congress that they'll start hammering the administration on the pandemic response and use the emergency declaration as a reason to hold hearings.

We will get a reprieve of a month or so and they’ll pretend everything is just fine and we’ll let our guard down, then they will blindside us with some other new crisis.
What it will be remains to be seen, but it will be serious enough to affect the elections and Covid no longer fits that bill. Nobody is buying it any more so they can’t milk it for election fraud.
