Sounds like a real mess to stay out of.
It is, because of the historical Tribal wars and the back an forth gain/loss of Tribal territory and influence over centuries, there is no easy compromise peace.
However the area is right on Russia's Southern and China's Western doorsteps and is critical to trade and economics for both.
Pelosi and Biden would sure like to make it a devastated no-mans-land, and utterly unusable for anything.
