Graphic video of young people violently stealing vehicles in Minneapolis neighborhoods and parking lots has put many communities on edge about carjackings. And though the number of such incidents is trending lower this year, they remain unacceptably common. Continued efforts are needed to apprehend the perpetrators and drive the numbers still lower.

Prediction: if this lawlessness continues and government doesn’t do anything about it, we will see a new sport. Rural yuts, driving pickup trucks, flying confederate battle flags will drive into these neighborhoods and shoot things up.

It would be best if we could resolve the problem away from the car well before the crime.
One good move would be to pass laws making long prison terms mandatory for those convicted, regardless of age...so long that most die in prison.
But presently we don’t even do that for murder.
Maybe offering rewards so large that it would be like winning the lottery and encouraging bounty hunters.
