"In her annual speech on Wednesday, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen said Brussels should have listened to the warnings on Russia from the Baltic states and Poland."
"We should have listened to the voices inside our Union – in Poland, in the Baltics, and all across Central and Eastern Europe,” she said, adding that “they have been telling us for years that Putin would not stop”
“They have invested in renewable energy, in LNG terminals, and in interconnectors,” von der Leyen said. “This costs a lot. But dependency on Russian fossil fuels comes at a much higher price.”
“We have to get rid of this dependency all over Europe,” she added.

Better late than never I guess.
Come around? Once they’ve gone “splat!” they will be close as ever.
They’ve taken the first baby steps toward acknowledging reality. They won’t have really gotten it until they get rid of the Gaia Worship.
Poland and the rest of Eastern Europe have a lot of personal experience dealing with the Russians. But the European elites know better. LOL!!!
The EU has not come around to reality. This is temporary lip service to the people of Europe to pretend that the leaders are going to do something. They hope this soon passes like gas (pardon the pun) and their plebes forget the crisis so the EU leaders can go back to their Gretagore cult worship of energy control.
Idiots. They act like buying gas from Russia was what went wrong. Buying their gas was not wrong but you cannot subvert, menace, and create a hostile neonazi entity on their border while doing so. Who knew?
So now for their right be be azzholes, they can pay 5 times for the gas they think is destroying the earth.
Good times.
Euros are appears good for a laugh, especially ones who’s grandpa was a Nazi officer.
Do the same on faggotry
True acknowledgement of error is when someone resigns—and says they resigned because their past performance proved they failed at their job.
“”We should have listened to the voices inside our Union – in Poland, in the Baltics, and all across Central and Eastern Europe,” she said, adding that “they have been telling us for years that Putin would not stop””
That’s 4 countries - Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia.
Which of those countries did Putin attack?
They should have listed to Trump when he went over there and warned then about the reliance on foreign adversaries for their energy needs. They laughed at him, now Russia is laughing at them. /spit
As Churchill once said, “Occasionally men stumble over the truth but usually pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing had happened.”
I doubt the EU will learn much from all this.
You’re right to bring that up. She nor anyone in Europe could ever bring herself to invoke or credit Trump. They’d have to take two showers afterward (provided they could find any hot water).
That’s OK. We’ll be happy to remind them that it was TRUMP who warned them......over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. Keep rubbing their noses in it.
But, but, but ... don't windmills work in the dead of winter?
They should have listened to TRUMP!
They laughed at Trump when he said this.
L
You mean, they should have listened to President Trump!
I am still angered by the sniggering laughs that could be heard on the background of a video when President Trump warned Germany and the EU about their dependence on Russian oil.
Him too, certainly. But the Eastern Europeans were on this thing long before Trump was President.
