Better than nothing but not good. So much missing.

If I wasn’t enjoying my coffee time I’d detail what we keep in our bags.

Also my truck has gear and goods for 7 days for 2 people. And I always keep at least 200 miles of fuel in it and 400+ miles of fuel in sturdy cans, properly treated, rotated and stored. Always no ethanol to limit water buildup.

We live far enough out to have a lot of time before any golden horde threat manifests, so stage 1 is get home. If need be we can head to our property in NC. 90 min on back roads.

Net: we’ve heeded Jon Hollerman’s guidance.

PS- we limit the BOBs to 25 pounds for me and 20 for the Queen. Plus water carried in a 2 liter bladder. Too old to even think about an 80# ruck. 😉

Having done thousands of miles on foot with a backpack absolutely agree on the weight issue

I see people who have 40-60lb+ packs they can walk with but seriously doubt they could for days and certainly aren’t goign to run or climb with it.

We have different bags and plans for different scenarios but the never coming home leaving on foot bags are right at 20-25lbs —lots gaps but figure in that scenario shit is really bad and lucky to be alive anyway
