Actually, Ukrainian, like Russian, Polish, etc. is an inflected language, where endings of a word convey grammar. The ending of the word for “independent” would show whether it means “of independent,” “for independent,” etc. So this sentence can work with just four words.

Talk about hypocrisy! USA had Constitutional protections that could’ve been defended to allow the commies to have full freedom of political expression during a COLD war with Russia. I don’t recall swathes of American Conservatives falling over themselves to defend it.
Ukraine doesn’t have the same Constitution as the USA. It isn’t obliged, constitutionally, to allow overtly pro-Russian parties (or parties created/led by people formerly loyal to Russia) to be heard during a HOSTILE OCCUPATION by Russia.
I’d personally rather Ukraine didn’t ban political parties at all but the very idea that RIGHT NOW they should be encouraging pro-Russian parties led by pro-Putin figureheads to flourish is not just impractical; it’s beyond bloody daft.
You might as well tell Israel, “Freedom of speech requires that you ought to let pro-Palestinian parties led by former Hamas members stand for the Knesset.”
From what we can see the Ukrainians love fighting under their commander-in-chief, while the Russians seem to feel like cannon fodder and that they are being used by theirs.
