The European Union executive will recommend suspending billions of euros earmarked for Hungary over corruption woes, two officials told Reuters on Wednesday, in what would be the first such move against Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

But her executive was expected to recommend on Sunday the suspension of up to 70% of 22.5 billion euros ($22.44 billion)worth of cohesion funds earmarked for Hungary from the EU's 2021-27 budget, according to the EU officials. Neither specified the exact sum in question.

The Hungarian forint and bonds weakened on the news on Wednesday as European lawmakers denounced Orban for years of dismantling the rights of migrants, gays and women, as well as the freedom of media, academics and courts.

By EU ‘rules’, they can’t do it unless all members (including Hungary) agree. Even if they attempt this...it’ll get challenged in EU court, and dragged back to court saying ‘no, you can’t do this’.

They had the same issue with the attempt to force all EU members to accept refugees, and that failed as well, for the same reason.

Not sure how those rules work.

Despite Hungary’s veto, the EU will introduce a global minimum tax

“dismantling the rights of migrants, gays and women”

I’m raising the BS flag here. Do you know what happens to a man if he gets divorced and has kids in Hungary?

Well it’s not pretty.

Was at Meder utca in Budapest and you could see homeless men wandering around. When I asked why they were there a local told me many of these men lost everything in a divorce.

They lose their savings, often their jobs, can’t see their kids. Utter and complete BS coming from the EU.

....the leadership of Hungary has steadfastly resisted the potential hoards of migrants, immigrants, etc. who want to invade that country....Mr. Orban is correct in his stand that he wants to preserve his country’s culture, society, etc. Can’t fault him for that....all you have to do is look at the increasing mongrelization of our own once-great country...

—” EU ‘rules’”

Plus directives... and the 60,000-word EU constitution...

Whatever the case, it is covered both ways.

It's a battle between a nationalist and globalists, just like the war in Ukraine is.

Globalists are the mortal enemies of an American First agenda.

Hungary is the resistance. They have been hammered by the woke/leftists for not bending and standing strong to keep Western Culture alive. Godspeed to them.

Tough position for Hungary to take as long as it’s living large on the EU dole…
