Former Trump White House lawyer Ty Cobb called ex-President Donald Trump a “deeply wounded narcissist” who acted in a “criminal” manner when he pushed then-Vice President Mike Pence to block Congress from certifying President Joe Biden’s 2020 election win.
In a new interview, Cobb also said Trump’s conduct on Jan. 6, 2021, while a mob of his supporters attacked the U.S. Capitol, could — at least theoretically — lead to him being barred from seeking the presidency.
“There is a simple way to disqualify President Trump,” Cobb told CBS News chief Washington correspondent Major Garrett in an interview on “The Takeout” podcast.
“He clearly violated the 14th Amendment of the Constitution’s Article III when he gave aid and comfort and three hours of inaction with regard to what was happening on the grounds of the Capitol,” he said.
“That clearly gave aid and comfort to the insurrectionists,” said Cobb, who added that a joint declaration by both chambers of Congress could on those grounds block Trump from being able to regain the White House.

The real Ty Cobb would have kicked this lawyer’s ass.
He makes conclusory allegations and throws the term “clearly” around like water. Very lawyer-ly.
He’s a lawyer? I thought he was a psychologist, since he knows narcissism when he sees it, except in his own mirror.
Sounds like a bill of attainder, and if they want to do this bill of attainder, they better hurry. Tick tock.
When the Communists took over Russia, they first took over the press, and then attacked the churches. The average church dwindled from 300 to 15; a 95% falling away. We shouldn’t be surprised that lawyers are falling away in the midst of MAGA being persecuted.
Yes he did two tweets (see below). However he didn’t come out and make A STRONG STATEMENT when the chaos started and try to stop it and denounce the violence that was going on, mention the fact he had ordered national guards, was denied by Sgt of Arms, Pelosi, etc.
He did say this:
Trump did two tweets, one at 1:49 p.m. ET, just as D.C. police were declaring a riot at the Capitol, Trump tweeted out a video of his speech at the Ellipse earlier that day and did not comment on the violence.
2nd 2:24 p.m. ET tweet from Trump that read, in part: “Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done.”
Trump eventually relented to calls from his aides and allies and recorded a video in the Rose Garden later that afternoon to tell his supporters to leave the Capitol. His staff did a draft of which read: “I’m asking for you to leave the Capitol region now and go home in a peaceful way.”
But in the video, Trump went off script, and didn’t say those words. Instead, he repeated his false claim that the election was stolen and saying, “Go home, we love you.”
False claim? That two-word phrase is the real "BIG LIE"!
