New Hampshire House primary emerges as GOP proxy war (primary tomorrow!)

One of the last Republican House primaries of the midterm cycle has emerged as a proxy battle between House GOP leaders and factions of the Republican party.

Candidates vying to face vulnerable Democratic Rep. Chris Pappas in New Hampshire’s 1st Congressional District are jockeying over how Trumpy and conservative they are, as millions of outside dollars are being poured into the race and attacks have gotten personal in the run-up to the Tuesday primary.

Matt Mowers, a former Trump appointee in the State Department, has the endorsement of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.), as well as Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley.

His closest competition is Karoline Leavitt, a 25-year-old former press aide in the Trump White House and in House Republican Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik’s (R-N.Y.) congressional office, has endorsements from Stefanik, Reps. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.), as well as from Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Mike Lee (R-Utah).

And she’s proven to be a strong fundraiser, bringing in more than $1.5 million during the primary cycle.

Will the moderate vote be split between Chris Christie aide Mowers and Scott Brown's wife (Gail Huff Brown)?

We'll see tomorrow!

I hope Leavitt takes it.

Beginning to believe that the (R) designation now indicates retard in a lot of cases. Also hoping Leavitt wins. Saw her on Tucker last week. Seems like a plus with Boebert and MTG.

You’d think that being nearly assassinated while your enemies (including the entire media) celebrate and cheer for your death would make a person even more resolved to fight against evil.

Instead, Scalise — who was once a staunch conservative — has become a complete pussy since that softball game and he & his “leadership” PAC toe the GOP establishment line 100% of the time and funnel tons of $$$$ to everyone BUT conservatives.

Scalise has become indistinguishable from McCarthy, McConnell or Romney.

“Instead, Scalise — who was once a staunch conservative”

The reality is that Scalise was never all that conservative, but faked it well. John Boehner was not going to put ANYBODY in the leadership track that wasn’t an Establishment type.

Mowers has been sending out Democrat style attack ads against Karoline Leavitt. That's enough evidence for me that he is the typical deep state stooge.

Anyone who doesn't want to vote for Karoline Leavitt should vote for Tim Baxter. Like Ms. Leavitt, Baxter is a solid conservative. Baxter is from the liberty side of the party with endorsements from Rand Paul and Rep. Massie.

Get out and vote New Hampshire!

Great, I would vote for both of them if I lived there.
