WRONG!!!
IT will cost every man, woman, and child $2500.
It will cost every TAXPAYER (people that actually work and pay taxes) over $6000 each.
There has to be reform in student loan lending, since it is true many graduates are in over their head.
I should also mention that I read that about half of the would-be recipients have loan balances of less than $10,000.
We are not talking about the usual Marxism here; we are talking about vote buying. Biden is crossing the Rubicon. Biden is politically poisoning what he considers to be our “democracy”.
“Was reading that California is going to tax the loan payoff
funds.”
And others. Exempt from federal tax.
I suspect a lot of Blue states will be more than happy to,
after acting the part of the ‘good guys’ to suck in the
Leftists.
You are right about the fraud and mismanagement. Look at all the other government programs :(
Still, it’s nice to see an article pointing out how much will come out a taxpayer’s pocket, even if underestimated. Most people seem to just think of the huge federal budget when they hear about these programs, not what it personally costs them.
Does ANYBODY think that this, if it happens, will be a ONE TIME event?
get serious.
This is the “FREE COLLEGE FOR EVERYBODY” opening salvo.
The GOV needs to get completely out of ALL education loans. Completely close down all of the Gov infrastructure. Lay off the employees, Auction all of the assets, including the buildings.
let the loan companies offer Edu loans. Allow loaners to be able to default on those loans. And watch ALL higher ed radically drop in price.
Do this, ONCE as a going out of business sale.
Sell all of the open loans to loan servicers.
And that is it.
In that case, based on the cost if the infrastructure, it might cost us $0.
Now, I know that you are the thread comedian. ;)
( He just hasn’t made the wires “pretty”, yet. )
Your earlier line about the universities magnanimously coughing up some of their payola was pretty good, too.
I have to dispute the $2500 figure. There are just 2 cases to consider:
Case 1: if they didn’t spend it on tuition they would have spent it on something else just as useless.
Case 2: The real case. Since they don’t have that money they will need to print it. For material they will whole cloth and The Fed. Inflation will inch up and stay with us forever. That’s how long we will be paying for this nonsense.
Wisconsin, also.
thats per year, for how many years?
Heck, they don’t even have to print money anymore. It’s all electronic. Add a couple of zeroes, take away a couple of zeroes from your account balance.
As I make my onerous quarterly payments today, I am tempted to deduct $2500 as I did not attend college and am not wont to pay for the poor choices of others.
Thanks for the mention.
“Student Loan ‘Forgiveness’ Estimated to Cost taxpayers an Average of $2500”
worth every penny if it buys even a single Democrat vote ...
Years? Like, how many? Forever?
$110K is income for a BSEE manager, not punks.
Liberals want us to pay student loans— this is a great ad:
