“A regime of harassment of personnel was gradually established,” following the Russian takeover, said Petro Kotin, the director of Ukraine’s nuclear energy agency, in an interview with a French news agency Friday.
“Two people were beaten to death,” he added. “We do not know where about 10 people are now. They were taken [by the Russians] and after that, we have no information about their whereabouts.”

If you study military history you will find that humane treatment of prisoners of war is the exception, not the rule. America has fought many wars that didn’t touch our homeland; we have almost always deployed our troops to wars fought elsewhere. Fighting a foreign enemy on the streets one grew up on creates an entirely different mentality that inspires young men to fight fiercely and to the death. It also greatly strains the virtue of mercy in the treatment of enemy combatants. While the fighting in Ukraine has not occurred on Russian realty, remember that Russia has done so in recent memory. It’s not a justification, but is an explanation, and applies also to Ukrainian soldiers as well. It’s just the way things are, and is another reason not to think of war as a video game.

Sounds like a Ukrainian operation or the "report" is just another fairy tale. But meanwhile the Ukrainians continue shelling their favorite targets, civilians in the Donetsk area like they have for the past 8 years. Most people there are not as lucky as you see here.

"If you study military history you will find that humane treatment of prisoners of war is the exception, not the rule."
I was a leadership instructor at times, and there are differences between east and west in regards to PW treatment.
"It’s just the way things are, and is another reason not to think of war as a video game."
A missile artillery soldier transferred to my unit from a post in another country. He whined that our training was too difficult, and that we were "too gung ho." He wiggled out of going to the field with us once and messed around with another soldier's girlfriend, while that soldier was in the field. The misdeed was discovered. The missile artillery REMF then fled the unit for his safety.
Many who haven't been light combat soldiers think of war as a video game and of training as a comfortable activity.

And not one report about Ukrainian’s abusing anyone. I guess it just doesn’t happen.

Oh it has happened alright. There is a long litany of war crimes by Ukraine which are undisputed but simply not harped on by the western media including good ole Fox News.
To: Revel
No doubt, many Ukrainian soldiers hate their enemy and want revenge. It happens but not as often. The Ukrainian government has ordered its soldiers to refrain from mistreating prisoners. They’re also being trained by the soldiers of western nations. I was trained to handle prisoners of war. We knew what could happen to us, if we mistreated them. We also knew that it was not our way of doing things (American exceptionalism).

One problem with mistreating prisoners, is that it is a strategic error. The more that a soldier’s people are mistreated, the harder he will fight. If a soldier’s buddies are tortured, he will fight with much more focus and determination. Terrorism is a liability.

It is delusional to think that the Ukrainian’s treat the Russian’s any better than the Russian’s treat them. Probably worse in fact since the Ukrainian’s feel invaded.
